Repair of the clapper of the bell Zikmund

Our company was part of the team which conducted an analysis of a clapper of the bell Zikmund in St. Vitus Cathedral at Prague Castle. Earlier this year, an expert team comprising members from COMTES FHT, Czech Technical University, University of Chemistry and Technology in Prague and St. Vitus metropolitan chapter decided that the clapper should be detached and modified to prevent excessive stress on the bell. The weight of the clapper was reduced, the shape of its mallet altered and the clapper material was soft-annealed by COMTES FHT in collaboration with RAPTECH. The bell with the repaired clapper was rung for the first time on 16 November to mark the 30th anniversary of the canonisation of Agnes of Bohemia
