The new biaxial testing system dedicated for cruciform specimens testing (Biax with load capacity of 50 kN and max. actuator speed 120 mm/min)

The new biaxial testing was designed for COMTES FHT for the biaxial deformation experiments of metal sheets and advanced FLC diagrams measurement with the non-linear strain paths. The system is fitted with a rigid steel frame, designed by COMTES FHT with 4 independently controlled actuators with a total load capacity of 50 kN of each one. The design allows simultaneous strain tracking using contactless optical DIC system from the one side and thermographic measurement from the other side of the tested specimen. The new testing system enables the individual actuators control, therefore different levels of deformation can be achieved in two perpendicular directions during testing. The specimen loading can be controlled by actuator speed, in stress control mode or in strain control mode using the DIC system (i.e. ARAMIS from GOM).
